Montenegro is a ship
Zato s pravom potenciramo: Crna Gora je napravila prekretnički iskorak. Nakon istorijskog lutanja vanevropskim bespućima zajedno s regionom u kom živimo konačno smo svoj državni brod usmjerili ka prirodnoj evropskoj luci.
That is why we have the right to emphasize: Montenegro has made a turning step forward. After a historical wandering through non-European pathless wilderness, together with the region in which we live,
we finally directed our state ship towards the natural European port.
In matters of EU accession, Montenegro is usually conceptualized as a vehicle - a train or a ship, and the EU as a locomotive, or port. In the first case, the EU is not presented as a travel destination, but as a part that will jointly lead to a specific, abstract destination.
Even in the second mapping of the EU as a port where a Montenegrin ship arrives, it again seems to be an abstract travel destination, a destination that is “spatially” distant, which will lead further to some other, even more abstract destination.
Ship - evoking the image of a large container holding many people, or of a society moving forward through space, and/or the idea that political events are partially determined by the (metaphorical) weather.
