In matters of EU accession, Montenegro is usually conceptualized as a vehicle - a train or a ship, and the EU as a locomotive, or port. In the first case, the EU is not presented as a travel destination, but as a part that will jointly lead to a specific, abstract destination.Even in the second mapping of the EU as a port where a Montenegrin ship arrives, it again seems to be an abstract travel destination, a destination that is “spatially” distant, which will lead further to some other, even more abstract destination.
Train - mostly described as an integration one, European-Balkan-Montenegrin, as a means of transport in a metaphorical scenario in which the main part - the locomotive, is mapped to the target domain - the EU.
